Conservation and community groups in Redang and Lang Tengah collect data for their marine conservation initiatives. These seek to improve management of the Marine Parks, as well as support marine research.
Our work at Pulau Lang Tengah involves turtle nest monitoring and conservation, rehabilitation of degraded coral reefs and outreach programmes.
The Redang Marine Conservation Group (RMCG) is a youth-led community group dedicated to protecting and conserving Redang Island’s marine environment.
The northeast monsoon brings heavy rainfall and high winds to the islands, closing down tourism from November to February. In the opposite southwest monsoon, the weather turns sunny and relatively dry. The skies are clearest near the peak of the season, good not only for beach activities but also for stargazing.
