COLLABORATE WITH US
This website is built through the collaboration of a network of marine NGOs in Malaysia, each working on different Marine Park islands. We invite everyone with an interest in sustainable marine tourism or who have knowledge of the islands to help us build this website further.
Please find more details below on how you can help us. We're also open to suggestions.
- New Marine Parks!
- Photographers
- Resorts
- Dive & watersports
- Marine biologists & enthusiasts
- Travel bloggers
- Sponsorship & CSR
We are currently working on adding more Marine Parks on the website!
We are looking for contributors who can provide:
- High quality images, especially underwater photos
- Tips about visiting the islands
- Local information & anecdotes to help us describe the island authentically
- Sustainability initiatives & nature information to help us create map layers for the Marine Park
We're working on creating web pages for the following Marine Park archipelagoes:
- Sibu-Tinggi Islands
- Besar Islands
- Pemanggil Island
- Aur Islands
- Payar Island (including Langkawi)
- Melaka
Contributors will be credited, and can feature their brand in an appropriate website section (e.g. on the map, on-page, in the contributor list, standalone page).
We greatly appreciate donations of photographs. Photos are credited appropriate to the context (on-page, linked on map, or in contributor page). We would also be happy to host your portfolio, or link to it.
Photos of Marine Park islands & underwater
- We've managed so far with our own image archive and royalty-free photos, but as we get to less popular Marine Parks, it gets more difficult to find images that depict the islands, their communities, and the natural biodiversity.
- In addition, we would appreciate images of dive sites so that the location pins in the Marine Park maps' dive layer can show what to expect.
Photos of marine species
As we expand our Learn section, we would be looking for species images to match the article. While we could probably find royalty-free images of marine animals, we prefer to feature Malaysian or Malaysia-based photographers, especially since we intend these articles to be specific to Malaysia and its Marine Parks.
If you are an underwater photographer who doesn't mind us contacting you with species image requests every now and then, please get in touch.
One of our main objectives is to make sustainable choices easier for Marine Park visitors. We believe that resorts & tourism businesses that make an effort to preserve or regenerate the natural heritage of marine parks deserve more recognition.
- If you have a sustainability initiative or certification, please let us know so that we can put it on the map.
- If you have regular programs that sustainability-minded tourists can join, reach out to us to discuss how we can feature it on the website.
Our requests:
- We welcome contribution of photos for pins on any of the Marine Park map layers.
- If you find our website useful, we would be grateful if you can link to us from your own website, and promote our maps to your guests.
Currently, the dive centre layer in our Marine Park maps list Green Fins certified dive centres as a default. However,
- If you are not Green Fins certified but do have sustainability initiatives, please let us know so we can put it on the map.
- Please reach out as well, if you are a snorkelling operator or other watersports centre in a Marine Park with a sustainability initiative (e.g. certified Eco Friendly Snorkelling Guides).
- If you have regular programs that sustainability-minded tourists / volunteers can join (e.g. crown-of-thorns removal, underwater cleanup), reach out to us to discuss how we can feature it on the website.
Our requests:
- We welcome contribution of photos for pins in the Marine Park map dive site layer (see Photographer section).
- If you find our website useful, we would be grateful if you can link to us from your own website, and promote our maps to your guests.
Help us expand the Learn section faster! We welcome contributions from marine biology researchers & enthusiasts. This is your chance to take a break from academic writing, and make a fun article about your favourite marine species in a Malaysian context!
We also welcome information from scuba divers and local islanders who may have more extensive Malaysia-specific experience to better describe where and when to look for the species, so that we can make its ecological context feel more tangible.
- Pitch us your species idea; we'll give you the template and start looking for images (unless you have them already). We will credit you on the page as the primary contributor, and host a URL of your choice - promote your publications, or anything you like!
- Additionally, we would like to create a public library of resource links for Malaysia-specific marine environment publications on this website. If you think this is a useful resource, help us design what it should look like.
We are accepting guest posts from like-minded travel bloggers for the following Marine Parks: Perhentian, Tioman, Redang & Lang Tengah. Articles can be about sustainability or community experiences you had in the Marine Park, tips for sustainable travel to islands and coral reefs, or scuba diving experiences and nature activities in the Marine Park. We will host up to two backlinks of your choice in the article.
We are also open to collaboration ideas from other content creators.
Sponsorship
Aside from contributions in kind, as described in the other sections, we also appreciate financial sponsorship from island resorts to help alleviate the costs of maintaining this website, as well as to make island visits for adding more Marine Parks to the website. We also welcome support from travel & tourism groups and associations. Please reach out to discuss.
Corporate social responsibility & philanthropy
We are a network of marine NGOs in Malaysia, led by Fuze Ecoteer, a licensed travel company. We maintain a database of volunteering & conservation projects in Malaysia from our network, as well as marine research projects (ongoing & wish list). They encompass a variety of outcomes & UN SDGs, from ecosystem rehabilitation to community development and education, and a range of marine habitats.
If you are looking for a comprehensive CSR or philanthropy program, we can consult our partners and tailor one for you to suit your corporate / institution objectives and brand. Please reach out to discuss.
