How to Be a Citizen Scientist as a Tourist in Redang

Did you know that you can contribute to marine science while on holiday in Redang and Lang Tengah?

Conservation and community groups in Redang and Lang Tengah collect data for their marine conservation initiatives. These seek to improve management of the Marine Parks, as well as support marine research. 

Data and observation reports from tourists are welcome! They can be as easy as submitting photos from your snorkelling camera, and reporting marine park threats to Redang's local community group. Contribute to citizen science in Redang & Lang Tengah!

If you love taking photos while snorkelling or scuba diving, learn how you can help conservation projects in Redang and Lang Tengah with your images. 

In addition, you can help the Redang Marine Conservation Group (RMCG) carry out their community stewardship activities by reporting ghost nets or animals in distress so that they can respond.

RMCG is Redang Island’s local community group. They support the work of Marine Park authorities to manage the marine park area. They may be the first responders to remove ghost nets and rescue animals in distress, and share marine park violations to the authorities.
